MASKNE BEARD AND SKIN TIPS

With the new rules on wearing face masks in place, we’re all starting to suffer from the horrible thing that is maskne. This occurs from the oil and dirt getting trapped within our pores and causing blockages. So many of us are looking for tips on how we can take care of our skin and prevent maskne and on how we can keep our facial hair under control from being pushed in the wrong direction and becoming sweaty when wearing our masks. Below I provide some tips on how you can keep breakouts at bay and your facial hair looking its best…

With wearing masks, one of the concerns is that facial hair can get in the way and interfere with the positioning of the mask. As well as this, having too long facial hair may trap in the pores. With all this in mind, one of my top tips is to get your facial hair trimmed regularly, keeping the hair neat and avoiding it from getting too overgrown and becoming unruly.

It’s also important to ensure you are using the correct products on your facial hair and skin. This is so important in order for the skin to be its cleanest and to avoid breakouts from forming on the skin. Exfoliators in particular are a great product to get rid of dead skin and to keep the skin and facial hair looking its best. Moisturisers, beard oils and serums are also great products to use and provide nourishment to the skin and facial hair. Moisturisers will also help to build the skin barrier and can help provide a protective barrier.

Wearing a mask regularly can also increase sweating in your beard on the skin. Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of this is to get rid of the beard. However, for those who want to keep their beard, beard wash and beard oils should be used regularly. This will not only keep the beard and skin clean but will also work to avoid the beard hair drying out and becoming irritable by keeping it nourished at all times. It’s important to try not to itch your beard when it does become irritated as much as possible. A lot of itching will cause the skin to also be irritated and can lead to beard shedding.

Lastly, be aware of what mask you are using. Cotton masks are more breathable and cause less friction in comparison to disposable masks. Make sure to also wash these regularly so as to get rid of any bacteria that may be on the mask.
