MEN'S HAIR HACKS

In this blog post, I discuss my top 5 hair hacks for men, including hacks on hair washing, pre-styling and blow-drying and conditioning. These hacks are a great way to keep your hair looking its best at all times. I’ve also included a hack for when you’re interested in mixing your hair up a bit and trying out a slightly different style…

Prior to blow-drying and styling your finished hair look, it’s so important to use pre-styling products. This includes heat protection sprays, mousses and texturising sprays that can be used on your hair when it’s damp prior to blow-drying and before completing the look with a finishing product. These pre-styling products really help develop your hairstyle and give more impact to the finished look.

Just like women, men should not wash their hair every day as it can strip the natural oils from your hair and can take away its softness and shine. Try to only wash your hair 3 times per week maximum if possible. Your hair will eventually get used to this and will look a lot healthier in the long run.

Less is more when it comes to hair products. Using too much hair product can result in your hair looking too wet/greasy or weighed down. The best finish is when your hair looks natural and little to no product has been used. Always start with small amounts of product and build up where necessary.

If you have frizzy hair, two of my favourite hacks are to use the cool setting on the hairdryer to smooth the cuticle down and give your hair a smooth finish and also, using conditioner when hair washing or a light hair mask once a week. Conditioner and hair treatments help to tackle frizz and keep your hair looking soft and shiny.

When you’re feeling bored with your hair and want to give it a different look now and then, one of my favourite tips is to change your hair parting. If you regularly have a middle parting, try switching this to a side parting once in a while, which will give you an instant new look with added volume and height. For those with a side parting, switching to a middle parting is a great way to give you a more defined look that really makes a statement.
