MEN'S BLONDE HAIR CARE TIPS

It’s important to remember that with blonde hair comes a lot of upkeep and maintenance! To achieve blonde hair, this often requires bleaching/pre-lightening, colouring and toning. Hair goes through a longer colour process and can be damaged as an outcome of this. With that in mind, it’s essential that blonde hair is looked after at home to avoid further damage and breakage and to keep hair in its best condition, particularly if you will be visiting the salon for regular root touch ups or highlights. A few aftercare tips to keep in mind are:

Proper Hair Care - As blonde hair can be more delicate and prone to damage, it's crucial to adopt a proper hair care routine. Use a shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for colour-treated/blonde hair to maintain the vibrancy of your blonde. Additionally, consider incorporating a weekly deep conditioning treatment/ask to keep your hair hydrated and nourished.

Tone and Refresh - Over time, blonde hair can develop brassy or yellow tones. To counteract this, use a purple or blue toning shampoo or conditioner once or twice a week to neutralise any unwanted warmth and maintain a cool, platinum, or ashy tone.

Protect from Heat - Heat styling tools can cause damage to any hair type, but blonde hair can be more susceptible. Prioritise heat protection by using a heat protectant spray before using hot tools and opt for lower heat settings/going heat free whenever possible to minimise damage.

Sun Protection - Just like your skin, your blonde hair can also be affected by the sun's harmful UV rays. Protect your hair by wearing a hat or using a UV-protective spray or leave-in conditioner when spending prolonged periods in the sun.

Regular Trims - Keep your blonde hair looking fresh and healthy by scheduling regular trims. This will help prevent split ends and maintain the overall appearance and shape of your hairstyle.

Avoid Overprocessing - While it may be tempting to continuously bleach or dye your hair to achieve a lighter shade or maintain the blonde, it's important to give your hair time to rest between chemical processes. Overprocessing can lead to damage, breakage, and weakened hair. Always discuss with your hairdresser the process of going blonde – you may not be able to do it in one sitting, it may take a few, but this will be worth it in the long run if you’re able to maintain the integrity of your hair.
